Quality Child Care Designed for Military Families

The Child Development Centers (CDC) provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment tailored to each child’s developmental needs. Programs include full-day and weekly care, hourly care for short-term needs, part-day enrichment opportunities for families who do not require full-time care, and the Give Parents A Break program, which offers eligible military families temporary child care support during periods of deployment, extended work hours, and other unique military-related challenges.

Supporting Community Families

The Fort Eustis (Madison) Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC), and has various child care and after school programs for children age 6 weeks through Kindergarten. Our daily activities consist of age appropriate development and USDA approved meals specially prepared by our cooks.

Our Mission

To assist DoD military and civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of the accomplishment of the Department of Defense (DoD) mission and family life by managing and delivering a system of quality, available, and affordable programs and services for eligible children and youth birth through 18 years of age.

Full Day Care

Serving children ages 6 weeks to Preschool, this program is open from 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

First Step Before/After Care

This program is designed for First Step children, including the summer before they begin the 1st grade. This is a before and after program, but children may attend on a full day basis at times of school closure and vacations.

Hourly Care

Serving children ages 6 weeks through pre school, this program provides short term care on an as needed basis (20 hours or less a week). Hourly care services are provided through reservations which can be made up to two weeks in advance by calling 757.878.4000. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
